"'The greater good' means equity and abundance for all living beings: humans, animals, and nature. By moving more towards the values that veganism espouses, we can do wonders for our health, the animals that inhabit this earth with us, and the planet we call home."

What was your previous (or current other) career, training or background?

After graduating from UBC with a degree in English Literature and Film Studies, I went from intern to assistant to the partners at a Vancouver public relations firm within two years, then started my own business in 2008. Conscious Public Relations Inc. was the fourth PR agency in Canada to earn B Corporation certification and contributed to eWomenNetwork Vancouver earning the 2018 Best Social Media and Community Engagement Award among 118 chapters in North America. After closing the business in 2018, living a vegan lifestyle, and getting an “a-ha” moment while meditating at the end of 2019, I decided to attempt to write and edit content for vegan businesses in 2020.

What change are you seeking to create through this initiative?

For six years I became immersed in the social and environmental impact industry, but it wasn’t until I began living as a vegan myself that I learned how crucial kindness to animals is to solving some of our world’s biggest problems: climate change, health, social justice, and poverty. By supporting more vegan businesses (and running one myself) I know that I am continuing my mission to make the world a better place by reducing our reliance on animal agriculture and educating other individuals and businesses on how living a more cruelty-free lifestyle—or transitioning their business to one that is animal-free—can do great things for us and our planet.

What does the concept of ‘the greater good’ mean to you?

“The greater good” means equity and abundance for all living beings: humans, animals, and nature. By moving more towards the values that veganism espouses (there are more ways to live vegan other than putting on publicity stunts!), we can do wonders for our health, the animals that inhabit this earth with us, and the planet we call home.
