"Our mission and our vision is for a world that nurtures all children so that we can all benefit."

What was your previous (or current other) career, training or background?

In response to the media attention following the discovery of unmarked graves at residential school sites in 2021, we began a weekly event to promote Truth and Reconciliation.

Priority Kids is a training and advocacy company on a mission to eradicate childhood sexual abuse. We offer staff and volunteer training and support organizations to implement best practices that keep kids safe from sexual abuse.

What change are you seeking to create through this initiative?

Our goal with the Calls to Action Series is to learn the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Report, and to create an opportunity to listen to Indigenous voices by watching a short film by an Indigenous Filmmaker.

Each week our participants read one Call to Action, and watch a short film together.

Our hope is that participants will deepen our understanding of truth, and be better prepared to participate in reconciliation.

What does the concept of ‘the greater good’ mean to you?

Priority Kids is on a mission to eradicate childhood sexual abuse because we know that the harmful impact of sexual abuse extends through families, relationships, and communities, throughout our lifetimes. It harmful effects reach all of us.

We know that when children are protected from abuse, families and communities experience health, well being, creativity, and joy. The beneficial outcomes reach all of us.

We also know that it takes a community effort to keep children safe. Our mission and our vision is for a world that nurtures all children so that we can all benefit.
